What is important is that your basement be ventilated and brightly lit, preferably with mirrors all around. A bathroom with shower facilities is an absolute must and so is a small changing room if you can section one area of the gym off. Make sure all gym equipment is installed a fair distance away from each other. Set up a music system, and a CD player for exercise video watching as your exercise.
